Medication and First Aid Policies

SPCA staff and camp counselors are certified in First Aid and CPR.  However, employees, volunteers, or other representatives are not permitted to administer any medications or emergency medical treatments to anyone.  Rescue devices can be given to a humane educator to be secured onsite in case of an emergency. Humane educators can assist your child in the preparation of the rescue device but cannot deliver such things as inhalers or epi-pens.  A doctor’s note must accompany these if you would like to have them onsite.  If a rescue device will remain onsite at the SPCA, contact us to discuss this.

Nature Unleashed

Who wants to see a falcon up close…or watch baby birds and other animals being fed…or learn what animals make what footprints…or build bird houses? Turns out lots of children & new teens in our community wanted to do all this and more at last year’s camp, and this year we’re doing it all over again! Discover the inspiring wild animals and the natural beauty filling our everyday lives! Campers will get messy and have fun as they learn about the wildlife in our own backyards, more about ecology and plants, and ways to protect the bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators working hard to preserve our environment! They’ll also spend time in our Wildlife Department and meet exotic and wild, non-releasable animals.  This week will surely let campers walk on the wild side!
