Support our lifesaving mission by giving a special gift to help Erie County’s animals. To learn more about the different ways you may make a contribution, please select from the options below that fit your giving intentions.
If you have questions about making any type of donation, please call 716-875-7360 ext. 227 or email donations@yourspca.org.
When you give, you want your charitable donations to be as effective as possible. Donor-advised funds are the fastest-growing charitable giving vehicle in the United States because they are one of the easiest and most tax-advantageous ways to give to charity. Please keep in mind that we may not be made aware of your contribution via the DAF, so please contact us at kellyw@yourspca.org to notify us of your gift so we can thank you for your generosity and ensure you receive a proper acknowledgement.Â
If you’re looking for a tax-savvy way to donate to the SPCA Serving Erie County consider donating shares of appreciated stock (which are shares that have increased in value over the time that you’ve owned them).
Donating stock gives you the opportunity to save on both capital gains taxes and income taxes. And due to these tax savings, your donation can be larger, making your dollar go further than if you were to sell the stock and donate cash. If you sell the appreciated securities and donate the cash generated by the sale to the SPCA, you will be subject to capital gains tax on the gain realized by the sale. But if you donate the securities directly to the SPCA, you will pass the unrealized capital gains to the SPCA (which will not be subject to capital gains tax when it sells the securities) and still be eligible to receive a charitable income tax deduction equal to the full fair market value of the donated securities (subject to AGI limitations).
To donate stock, you’ll fill out a stock transfer form from your brokerage or the financial institution that manages your stock assets. On the form, you’ll provide information about the stock you want to donate and that you would like to donate it to the SPCA.
The following information can be used to make a transfer:
Receiving Firm: Trubee Wealth Advisors – First Clearing
DTC: 0141
Account Number: 4896-1940
Tax ID Number: 16-0425315

If you would like to support our mission by donating appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual funds, please contact Kelly Wolfe, Chief Development Officer at kellyw@yourspca.org or 716-875-7360 ext. 272.
A legacy gift is an opportunity to ensure that the values you hold dear – love and kindness towards animals – continue to live on. Legacy gifts can be made by naming the SPCA Serving Erie County as a beneficiary in your last will and testament. Please click here for more details.
If you would like more information or have already included the SPCA Serving Erie County in your estate plans, please contact Kelly Wolfe, Chief Development Officer at kellyw@yourspca.org or 716-875-7360 ext. 272.
There are certain assets, like your life insurance policy and retirement benefits, that pass on to your beneficiaries outside of your last will and testament. You have to fill out separate beneficiary designation forms to name beneficiaries for these non-probate assets.
In these forms, you have the option to name the SPCA Serving Erie County as your beneficiary. This is another fantastic way to give back to the animals in our community who need us most and in a way that doesn’t cost you anything during your lifetime.
To learn more about how to contribute these types of gifts to the SPCA, please click here.
Please keep in mind that we may not be made aware of your contribution, so please contact Kelly Wolfe, Chief Development Officer at kellyw@yourspca.org to notify us of your gift so we can thank you for your generosity and ensure you receive a proper acknowledgement.Â
Many donors feel that the direct transfer of funds from an IRA is a great way to make their compassion for animals a part of their legacy while reducing their taxable income. If you are 70 ½ years of age or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) of up to $100,000 each year from your IRA to 501(c)(3) organizations, without the distribution being treated as taxable income to you.Â
To make a QCD, you’ll have to fill out an IRA Charitable Distribution Form and submit it to the institution that manages your IRA account. You’ll need your account information and the SPCA’s Tax ID Number for the form. Our Tax ID Number is 16-0425315.
Go to the IRS website for additional useful information on QCDs.
Please keep in mind that we may not be made aware of your contribution, so please contact Kelly Wolfe, Chief Development Officer at kellyw@yourspca.org to notify us of your gift so we can thank you for your generosity and ensure you receive a proper acknowledgement.Â
