SPCA representatives understand how difficult it is to arrive at the decision that a beloved pet must be euthanized. We can help you through this process, along with helping you make decisions about animal cremation or private cremation, which enables you to keep your pet’s ashes in a locked, cedar box.

If you are calling Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., please call 716-875-7360, press 0, and ask for the Admissions Department to make your appointment. If you are calling Monday through Saturday, 4 p.m.-6:45 p.m., in an emergency euthanasia situation only, please call 716-875-7360, ext. 214.

Prices for euthanasia vary depending on the animal’s weight and specific owner requests. They are listed below. Hours and location are listed at the bottom of the page. Residents outside of Erie County are encouraged to contact their veterinarians for this service.

Cremation services are available for large animals (i.e. horses) that are up to 1,500 pounds. Please call 716-875-7360 ext. 218 for information and scheduling options.

Please note: All animals surrendered for euthanasia are subject to a medical evaluation. The SPCA reserves the right to refuse euthanasia services if humane alternatives are available.

Due to limited appointment times, please know that we may not be able to schedule your euthanasia appointment for the same day. Please give yourself twenty-four to forty-eight hours to obtain a scheduled appointment for your euthanasia request.

For many pet owners, it is important to be with their pets at the time of euthanasia, or to see their pets post-euthanasia. These options are not available at the SPCA, however, they are available in our adjoining clinic. If you would like to be with your pet at this time, or view your pet afterwards, please contact our LIPSEY CLINIC for a euthanasia appointment and costs. For in-home euthanasia, contact LAP OF LOVE, 716-320-0187.

Also: The SPCA will not euthanize healthy senior animals, even by request. Pet owners wishing to have animals euthanized simply due to age must utilize the services of a veterinarian.
