Mary Elizabeth Lord was the daughter of the first mayor of Buffalo, and the wife of John Lord, founder of the Central Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Dr. Lord, as she was referred to in her day, was an extremely interesting woman with many accomplishments. She is best known for founding the Erie County SPCA in April of 1867.

The SPCA’s Mary Elizabeth Lord Legacy Club honors the philanthropic leadership and vision of individuals who have provided for the future of our beloved institution by making a legacy gift. Membership benefits include:

Invitations to special receptions and events
VIP tours of the SPCA facility
A subscription to the SPCA newsletter, Compassion in Action

Our Mary Elizabeth Lord Legacy Club is growing. Becoming a member encourages others to join the Club thereby creating a more compassionate community.
