Bella, a nine-year-old chihuahua, was rushed to an emergency vet clinic after experiencing on and off seizures. What their veterinarians discovered was heartbreaking: Bella had extensive bruising all over her body and a fractured skull. Due to the severity of her injuries, there was no doubt that Bella was a victim of cruelty and abuse.

Bella was immediately transported to the SPCA Serving Erie County for care and treatment. Our compassionate Veterinary Team prioritized alleviating her pain while our SPCA Law Enforcement Officers worked behind the scenes to pursue justice for Bella.

After a week of treatment, including daily doses of anti-seizure and pain relief medications, Bella’s condition began to stabilize.

To support her lengthy recovery, Bella was welcomed into a loving foster home where she could continue healing in peace. Now, she will no longer have to suffer in silence at the hands of her abuser.

Bella is just one of hundreds of pets this year who will require emergency medical treatment in our shelter. Our monthly Yelp for Help donors make it possible. Please consider joining this compassionate community of donors by becoming a Yelp for Helper today!
