Northtown Subaru in Amherst, longtime lover of animals and partner of the SPCA Serving Erie County, is celebrating its love for animals this October in about 3,100 ways!
For every dog or cat adopted at the SPCA Serving Erie County this October, Northtown Subaru will donate $100 to the SPCA as part of the Subaru Loves Pets campaign! The donation will be made for up to 31 animals, one for each day of the month.
Then buckle up, because Subaru’s love for pets continues at a special adoption event Saturday, Oct. 18! From 11 a.m.
to 3 p.m., the SPCA and Northtown Subaru are teaming up in Northtown’s showroom at 3930 Sheridan Drive in Amherst! Get ready to browse the most adorable showroom in town and find your match — whether you’re looking for a playful pup to ride shotgun or a cuddly cat co-pilot.
In all, Northtown’s Subaru Loves Pets promotions have been responsible for not only finding loving homes for many SPCA temporary, four-footed residents, but they have raised more than $20,000 for SPCA animals since 2021.
Additionally, between Northtown Subaru’s generous Share the Love donations of more than $160,000 since 2021 and the regular spotlight on adoptable animals in their monthly emails, Northtown Subaru truly goes the extra mile to support the SPCA Serving Erie County.
In fact, according to Subaru, since 2008 the company has supported the rescue, transportation, adoption, and health of over 700,000 pets nationwide!
“Northtown Automotive is proud of our longstanding partnership with the SPCA and our commitment to supporting those organizations that support Western New Yorkers. The SPCA Serving Erie County helps thousands of animals in need every year,” said Harold Erbacher, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Owner of Northtown Automotive Companies. “We pride ourselves on assisting others by creating a sense of family, generosity and sharing— both at the dealerships where we work and in the community we serve.”
“Northtown Subaru’s incredible support allows us to provide life-saving care to animals in need,” said SPCA Associate Director of Corporate and Individual Giving Phillip Weiss. “Their generosity directly translates to more animals finding loving homes and receiving the second chance they deserve. We are incredibly grateful for their partnership!”

Last month, the SPCA Serving Erie County took in two ball pythons after they were found at a gas station in Amherst. Now, both pythons are adjusting to life in their new homes!
“Ambassador animals, or animal teachers as we like to call them, visit thousands of community members each year, teaching them about the SPCA, the variety of ways the SPCA helps our community, what to do when you find an animal/no longer can keep an animal, and what proper care looks like for certain animals,” said Christine Davis, said SPCA director of community education.

Mary Alloy is just one of those people who makes our community a better place. As owner of Amherst’s JUST PIZZA location, she has been a longtime donor and friend of the SPCA Serving Erie County, doing and giving so much to help give our animals second chances.
This year’s Paws in the Park walk
has been dedicated to Mary, and today’s surprise birthday gift was the permanent naming of a “Dog Suite” (kennel B-7, of course, for her 7/7 Birthday!) in Mary’s honor!
Mary, thank you for your unending generosity…your permanent smile no matter the circumstances, no matter how you’re feeling…and for showing love and kindness to every animal and person who come your way. You are a rare individual and our organization is blessed by your friendship and compassion.
