Now through May 15th, your Yelp for Help gift will be matched up to $25,000 by longtime shelter friends, Bill & Nancy Gacioch and National Property Management Associates!

Not every animal comes to the SPCA Serving Erie County healthy and adoptable. Countless animals like Nova suffer from life-threatening illnesses and injuries, usually the result of abuse and neglect. They require immediate, and expensive, veterinary care that often stretches our resources. Once treatment is administered, many require additional medical care or intense socialization and behavior modification.

Nova, a two-month-old puppy, came into our care after being rescued from a house fire. Our veterinary team quickly began tending to the burns on her head and back, providing oxygen to replenish her lungs from the smoke inhalation, and administering pain medications, antibiotics, and additional fluids via an IV.

The poor pup endured multiple intricate bandage changes and cleanings of her wounds during her recovery — 22 times, to be exact. Nova spent almost two months with an SPCA foster family to heal and certainly did not let this trauma overtake her playful and curious personality. Finally, after getting spayed and receiving her age-appropriate vaccinations, she was ready to be adopted … which took less than an hour of being on the adoption floor to meet her new family!

The SPCA’s Yelp for Help Fund offsets the cost of caring for, and eventually making possible successful adoptions of, these special animals. Can you give these animals in need the hope and happiness they deserve? Your gift will truly help to save lives!

Please note that the SPCA Serving Erie County receives no government funding, no tax dollars, and is not affiliated with any national organizations such as the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States. Your gift will help us care for nearly 12,000 animals each year.
